SEO Specialist, Content

smartdept. is searching for a Content SEO Specialist for a growth and transformation consultancy serving ecommerce, retail, and DTC brands. This is a fully remote, ongoing freelance contract opportunity.

You’ll grow organic traffic for ecommerce brands through keyword strategy and on-page optimization, working alongside a senior growth lead.

What You’ll Do:

• Research keywords and map them to product, collection, and content pages
• Optimize page titles, meta descriptions, headings, and on-page copy
• Write SEO content briefs for copywriters
• Plan blog and landing page content around search topics
• Refresh existing pages to improve rankings
• Build internal linking and track ranking progress

What You’ll Need:

• Hands-on SEO experience for ecommerce or retail websites
• Experience with Semrush, Ahrefs, or similar tools
• Working knowledge of Google Search Console and GA4
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Comfort using AI tools to work faster
• Clear, reliable communication

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Shopify SEO
• Experience optimizing for AI search results
• Surfer or similar content optimization tools
• Basic HTML
