About the Job:
We are seeking an SEO Account Manager to lead several key consulting engagements and deliver business results for both our clients and our agency by ensuring the on-time delivery of services and the implementation of our recommended projects. Candidates should possess a solid grasp of digital marketing principles, particularly SEO practices, and understand how these elements align with broader business goals. We are looking for curious, self-motivated individuals who are highly organized, quick learners, and have exceptional interpersonal skills. Account Managers are expected to drive projects forward by collaborating effectively with clients and team members to deliver impactful results. The role involves managing a diverse client portfolio, internal resources, and third-party vendors to execute a variety of projects. Candidates will also be expected to identify potential process enhancements and improve workflows that can unlock new avenues for efficiency and scalability within our agency.
Responsibilities:
- Lead 10-15 client accounts simultaneously, including 1-2 large customized engagements that involve a unique set of resources and/or services
- Act as the primary point of contact and partner for clients that includes, but is not limited to, leading meetings, communicating proactively between sprints, building trust, defining action plans, and assigning tasks
- Take ownership of your client relationships and earn respect by understanding the incentives of individual stakeholders and how internal politics shape their ability to influence outcomes
- Maintain client account health and stakeholder satisfaction to consistently secure account retention
- Work with the client to define KPIs / OKRs and build reports to provide visibility on performance progress
- Lead regular check-ins with clients, monthly performance reports, and quarterly business reviews
- Steer discussions to achieve desired objectives within the allotted time, by preparing appropriately and reading the room to recognize nonverbal cues or subtleties in tone of voice and adapt to feedback
- Listen to client concerns, articulate solutions confidently with conviction, and build rapport
- Inspire internal stakeholders and partner with external resources to complete deliverables on time that deliver against scope, as well as meet regular deadlines within a typical two week sprint schedule
- Utilize project management tools to monitor progress on initiatives and tasks, build knowledge libraries, and provide comprehensive client updates to the greater organization
- Ability to communicate digital marketing strategies and how they can impact a business
- Set clear expectations, track client results, and provide regular feedback to account teams to foster success
- Identify inefficiencies and collaborate with other teams to implement improvements in the client services workflow
- Update executive sponsors regarding possible contract upgrades and prepare them to participate in QBRs and other major meetings
- Alert manager and executive sponsor when client demands become untenable, resources are strained, or accounts are at risk
- Keep clients informed about trends and developments in the SEO industry and continue learning about large language models (LLMs)
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in a related discipline preferred
- 5+ years in client management and digital marketing for startups, mid-market businesses, and at least one enterprise
- 3+ years experience in search engine marketing including a strong understanding of SEO best practices and their role in business growth
- Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication by email, phone, and video conference as well as strong presentation skills
- Adaptability, proactivity, and attention to detail to thrive within a fast-paced agency environment
- Ability to become a business partner to the client, with a strong understanding of their business goals and opportunities to meet these goals through organic web growth
- Advanced skills with productivity software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace (Suite), Zoom, Slack, and various project management tools
- Proficiency with foundational SEO workstreams, like keyword research, analytics, and reporting, as well as corresponding platforms
- Strong organization and problem-solving skills as well as business acumen
- Proven ability to manage multiple accounts, designate cross-functional tasks to peers as well as clients, and see projects through to completion using an agile methodology
- Curious about client businesses and their stakeholders with a genuine interest in turning your accounts into case studies
- Eagerness to stay abreast of the latest SEO and AI trends, algorithm updates, and industry insights
