Cars of Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been serving the Chicago region for 16 years. Our mission is to help families who have fallen on hard times by providing reliable transportation through donated and refurbished vehicles. Many of the families we serve are single mothers and others referred through trusted partner organizations.
As a fully volunteer-run organization with no paid staff, every donated vehicle, volunteer hour, and financial contribution helps us make a greater impact. We carefully evaluate donated vehicles, refurbish those suitable for our program, and gift them to deserving families. Vehicles that are not suitable for the program are sold, with proceeds used to repair and prepare program vehicles.
We are committed to expanding our reach throughout the greater Chicagoland area so we can help more families achieve transportation independence and stability. To accomplish this goal, we need dedicated volunteers who share our passion for serving others.

Purpose
Help expand the reach and impact of Cars of Hope by strengthening our online presence through search engine optimization (SEO), website design, and engaging content creation. This leadership volunteer role focuses on increasing awareness of our mission, attracting more donated vehicles, volunteers, corporate sponsors, and financial supporters throughout the Chicagoland area.
As a member of the executive volunteer leadership team, you will play an important role in helping more families receive reliable transportation by making it easier for donors, community partners, and volunteers to discover Cars of Hope online.
Cars of Hope is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has served the Chicago area for more than 16 years by accepting donated vehicles, refurbishing those suitable for the program, and gifting them to families—especially single mothers—through trusted social service organizations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an SEO strategy that increases Cars of Hope's online visibility and search engine rankings.
- Improve the Cars of Hope website by enhancing content, navigation, user experience, accessibility, and conversion rates.
- Research and recommend high-value keywords related to vehicle donations, charitable giving, nonprofit transportation assistance, and volunteer opportunities.
- Write and publish engaging blog articles highlighting donor stories, recipient success stories, volunteer experiences, community partnerships, and organizational updates.
- Optimize website pages and blog content using SEO best practices, including metadata, headings, internal linking, image optimization, and structured content.
- Monitor website performance using analytics tools and recommend improvements based on visitor behavior and search trends.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to create landing pages supporting fundraising campaigns, corporate sponsorships, grant opportunities, volunteer recruitment, and community outreach.
- Assist in maintaining consistent branding and messaging across the website and digital communications.
- Work with social media and marketing volunteers to maximize the reach of published content.
- Recommend and implement improvements that increase online engagement and help more people discover Cars of Hope's mission.
