Role Description

The SEO Localisation Specialist / International Search Specialist / Regional SEO Specialist improves organic-search visibility across multiple countries, languages, and regional markets. This role ensures websites and digital content are appropriately localised for local audiences while following international SEO best practices.

The position researches regional search behaviour, language preferences, local competitors, and market-specific keyword demand. It develops localisation strategies, supports translated or adapted content, and works with SEO, Content, Product, Web Development, Marketing, and regional teams to optimise websites for each target market.

The role manages technical international SEO requirements such as hreflang implementation, country or language site structures, local metadata, regional landing pages, and search-engine indexation. It monitors performance by market, identifies gaps or opportunities, and provides recommendations that improve rankings, traffic, engagement, and conversions across regions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Digital Marketing, Marketing, Communications, International Business, Languages, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience in international SEO, localisation, multilingual content, regional digital marketing, or search optimisation.
  • Strong understanding of international SEO principles, including hreflang, country targeting, language targeting, and regional site structures.
  • Experience conducting keyword research, search-intent analysis, and competitor research across multiple countries or languages.
  • Ability to develop localised SEO recommendations for landing pages, content, metadata, headings, internal linking, and user journeys.
  • Experience working with translation teams, local-market stakeholders, content writers, and regional marketing teams.
  • Knowledge of cultural adaptation, local search behaviour, language differences, and market-specific customer needs.
  • Experience using Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, or similar SEO tools.
  • Ability to analyse regional rankings, organic traffic, search visibility, engagement, and conversion performance.
  • Familiarity with technical SEO issues such as duplicate content, canonical tags, crawlability, indexation, XML sitemaps, and geotargeting.
  • Ability to identify localisation gaps, translation-quality concerns, and technical issues that may affect regional search performance.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder-management, research, and project-management skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for keyword analysis, reporting, and market-performance tracking.
  • Additional language skills and experience working across international markets are highly advantageous.
