Job Overview
We’re looking for a seasoned Off-Page SEO Specialist to own and scale our off-page SEO operations across multiple HVAC, plumbing, and electrical service brands. You’ll be responsible for driving link building, citation and directory management/optimization across 12 (and more) brands in our service locations in Oregon, California, and Colorado.
If you’re passionate about building high-quality backlink profiles, know how to leverage AI agents for automated link discovery, and love scaling off-page operations using data-driven strategies, we want you on our team. This is a full-time contract, fully remote role in a collaborative and fast-moving environment.
Requirements
✔ 5+ years of hands-on experience in Off-Page SEO, link building, press releases, and citation/directory management.
✔ Near-native English proficiency with a professional demeanor.
✔ Proven experience building and scaling link acquisition strategies for multi-location, service-area businesses.
✔ Expert-level proficiency in SEO tools: SEMrush, Ahrefs, Majestic, and Moz are primary requirements. Must know how to audit backlink profiles, identify toxic links, and benchmark against competitors.
✔ Strong analytical skills in Excel and Google Sheets, including the ability to build and maintain large-scale tracking spreadsheets, pivot tables, and formulas. Experience with Google Apps Script and Python for automation is a strong plus.
✔ Experience using AI agents (ChatGPT AI Agent, custom GPTs, or equivalent) to automate link prospecting, discovery, outreach workflows, and identify suitable link network pathways, distinguishing good backlinks from bad.
✔ Well versed with AI tool platforms (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, etc.) and more optimal ways to use them (terminal) for content drafting and all other processing required. Uses AI as a force multiplier, not as a replacement for SEO judgment.
✔ Knows how to scale operations: Can systematically build, document, and manage repeatable link building and citation processes across multiple brands and locations.
✔ Comfortable with citation and directory management platforms such as Yext and BrightLocal, and manual directory submissions.
✔ Capable copywriter: Able to produce high-quality guest post content, outreach emails, resource page pitches, and other link-building collateral at a professional standard.
✔ Experience with local SEO link building, including local sponsorships, partnerships, community-based links, and niche-relevant directory placements for service-area businesses.
✔ Fast-paced, high attention to detail, organized, and able to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously.
✔ Well versed with AI tool platforms (ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) and more optimal ways to use them (terminal, agents, automation) for SEO content optimization, outreach, and link prospecting. Uses AI as a force multiplier, not a replacement for SEO judgment.
✔ Comfortable optimizing for seasonal demand shifts (HVAC, electrical, plumbing cycles).
Responsibilities
■ Plan, execute, and scale link building campaigns across all ASG brands and service locations, including prospecting, outreach, and relationship management.
■ Manage and optimize citation profiles across all locations using platforms like Yext and BrightLocal, and manual submissions, ensuring NAP consistency and accuracy.
■ Conduct comprehensive backlink audits using SEMrush, Ahrefs, Majestic, and Moz to identify toxic links, disavow harmful backlinks (👀), and benchmark against competitors.
■ Build and maintain large-scale tracking systems in Excel/Google Sheets for link acquisition, citation accuracy, and campaign performance reporting.
■ Leverage AI agents and automation tools to streamline link discovery, prospecting, outreach, and identify link network opportunities (good and bad).
■ Write high-quality outreach emails, guest post content, resource page pitches, and other copywriting deliverables needed for link acquisition.
■ Help in developing and documenting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all off-page processes to enable team scalability and quality control.
■ Conduct competitor backlink analysis and identify strategic link opportunities for each brand and service location.
■ Coordinate with the on-page SEO team to align off-page strategies with content and technical SEO initiatives.
■ Perform ongoing directory optimization and identify new directory and citation opportunities relevant to HVAC, plumbing, and electrical industries.
■ Keep up with SEO evolution while critically evaluating which off-page practices are actionable versus speculative.
■ Utilize tools like Advanced Web Ranking, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Majestic, Moz, and Google Search Console to track off-page performance and report insights.
