We are building a long-term organic growth engine and are looking for an experienced SEO leader to oversee our SEO strategy, guide execution, and ensure every initiative contributes to business growth.
This is a strategic advisory role—not a hands-on execution position.
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Fractional Director of SEO & Organic Growth to lead our organic search strategy and oversee our existing SEO contractor.
You will act as our senior SEO advisor, responsible for developing strategy, reviewing execution, identifying opportunities, and ensuring our SEO investments generate measurable business results.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience growing Shopify and direct-to-consumer brands, understands modern search (including AI-powered search experiences), and is comfortable collaborating with founders.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and maintain a 12-month SEO roadmap.
- Identify the highest-impact SEO opportunities.
- Prioritize initiatives based on revenue potential.
- Align SEO with product launches, marketing campaigns, and business goals.
Oversight & Quality Control
- Review all work completed by our SEO contractor.
- Provide feedback and recommendations before implementation.
- Ensure work follows current SEO best practices.
- Hold our SEO team accountable for deadlines and results.
Technical SEO
- Audit website architecture.
- Review crawlability and indexing.
- Monitor Core Web Vitals and site performance.
- Evaluate structured data and schema implementation.
- Improve internal linking and site organization.
Content Strategy
- Approve content topics and keyword strategy.
- Build topical authority within our market.
- Review content briefs before writing.
- Ensure content satisfies search intent and supports conversions.
Analytics & Reporting
Monitor and report on:
- Organic traffic
- Keyword visibility
- Revenue from organic search
- Google Search Console performance
- Technical SEO health
- Content performance
- Backlink profile
- AI search visibility
Provide concise executive reports that focus on business outcomes rather than vanity metrics.
Collaboration
- Meet weekly with the founder.
- Coordinate with our SEO contractor.
- Work with our marketing and content teams as needed.
- Recommend tools, processes, and automation that improve SEO performance.
Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of SEO experience.
- Proven success growing e-commerce or Shopify brands.
- Strong technical SEO expertise.
- Experience leading SEO strategy rather than only executing tasks.
- Deep understanding of Google Search Console, GA4, Ahrefs, and Semrush.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical concepts in plain language.
Preferred:
- Experience with supplements, wellness, health, or consumer packaged goods.
- Familiarity with AI-driven search and emerging search trends.
- Experience managing agencies or freelance SEO specialists.
- Knowledge of digital PR and authority-building strategies.
Time Commitment
Approximately 4–8 hours per week, including:
- Weekly strategy meeting.
- Deliverable reviews.
- Performance monitoring.
- Quarterly strategic planning.
Success Metrics
Within the first 90 days, success will include:
- A clear SEO roadmap with prioritized initiatives.
- Improved quality and consistency of SEO execution.
- Meaningful improvements in technical SEO health.
- A measurable increase in qualified organic traffic.
- Clear reporting connecting SEO efforts to business outcomes.
- A well-managed SEO process with defined accountability.
