We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Head of SEO who will own and lead the Company’s overall SEO strategy across markets, driving organic growth and ensuring strong execution across the SEO function. The role will manage the SEO Managers and oversee the wider SEO team, setting priorities, targets, KPIs and resource allocation.

This is a strategic yet hands-on leadership role, requiring someone who can work at both a high level and in the detail when needed by analysing performance, identifying opportunities, solving challenges and working closely with Senior Management and cross-functional teams to deliver measurable business results.

The role is fully remote, with the potential for occasional management meetups in Malta or Bulgaria, approximately once or potentially twice per year.

Main Responsibilities

SEO Strategy & Leadership

  • Own and lead the Company’s overall SEO strategy across all markets and websites, aligned with business and commercial objectives.
  • Set SEO priorities, targets, KPIs and roadmaps, ensuring clear accountability and measurable delivery.
  • Identify and prioritise opportunities based on performance, market conditions, resources and commercial impact.
  • Lead, manage and develop the SEO department, including the three SEO Managers, with clear objectives, accountability and performance expectations.
  • Oversee team performance, resource allocation, development, recruitment and training.
  • Establish and continuously improve SEO processes, standards, documentation and best practices across the Company.
  • Act as the senior SEO subject-matter expert, providing strategic guidance to Senior Management and ensuring the function operates efficiently and consistently.
  • Stay ahead of search engine algorithm updates, AI Overviews, generative AI and emerging search technologies, adapting the SEO strategy accordingly.

Technical, Content & Authority

  • Develop and oversee technical SEO strategies covering website architecture, crawling, indexing, rendering, internal linking, structured data, redirects, international SEO and Core Web Vitals.
  • Conduct and oversee technical SEO audits and ensure issues are prioritised and resolved effectively.
  • Work closely with Development and Product teams on new websites, features, migrations, redesigns and major technical changes.
  • Lead on-page and content SEO strategy, including keyword research, search intent, content planning, optimisation and performance improvement.
  • Work closely with the Content and Social Media teams to align content with search demand and commercial objectives.
  • Develop and oversee link-building, link acquisition and digital PR strategies, ensuring appropriate quality standards across markets.
  • Ensure SEO is incorporated into new products, websites, campaigns and wider business initiatives.

Data, Performance & Commercial Growth

  • Establish and monitor SEO performance frameworks and KPIs, including organic traffic, rankings, visibility, conversions and revenue.
  • Analyse performance, identify opportunities and challenges, and translate insights into clear, commercially relevant actions.
  • Identify and address underperformance, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Prepare SEO reports, forecasts and strategic recommendations for Directors and Senior Management.
  • Conduct ongoing competitor and market analysis to identify new markets, search trends, keywords and organic growth opportunities.
  • Ensure SEO performance is measured against wider business and commercial objectives.

Other Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal teams, external agencies, consultants and industry partners where required.
  • Attend relevant meetings, conferences, exhibitions, workshops and training locally or abroad, when required by the Company.
  • Represent the Company and SEO function professionally with external stakeholders.
  • Perform other related managerial, strategic, administrative and ancillary duties as reasonably required by the business.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of SEO experience, including significant senior leadership experience.
  • Proven experience leading and developing SEO teams, ideally managing managers and multi-market functions.
  • Strong expertise across technical SEO, on-page SEO, content, keyword research, link building and digital PR.
  • Proven track record of delivering measurable and sustainable organic growth through effective SEO strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of search algorithms, ranking factors, SEO best practices and the evolving AI/generative search landscape.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Ahrefs, Semrush or similar tools.
  • Strong analytical and commercial mindset, with the ability to turn data and insights into actionable strategies and business results.
  • Experience managing SEO across multiple websites, markets or international environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong strategic, organisational and project management skills, combined with a hands-on approach.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to drive accountability and performance across a sizeable team.
  • Proactive problem-solver who takes ownership of results and continuously identifies opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Comfortable challenging existing approaches and making data-driven decisions.
  • Able to operate effectively in a fast-paced, international and results-oriented environment.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing teams in a fully remote environment.
