We are seeking a volunteer Search Optimization Specialist to improve organic visibility across traditional search, local search, answer engines, and AI-assisted discovery.
Responsibilities
- Audit technical SEO, crawlability, indexing, site architecture, metadata, structured data, internal links, and performance
- Research audience questions, search intent, topics, entities, and local opportunities
- Recommend content briefs and on-page improvements grounded in helpful, accurate information
- Improve organization, program, volunteer, scholarship, and community-partnership pages
- Support Google Search Console, analytics, local profiles, redirects, sitemaps, and canonicalization
- Strengthen answer-ready content, FAQs, citations, schema, and clear entity relationships for AI search
- Track rankings, impressions, clicks, conversions, and indexing issues
- Avoid manipulative tactics, keyword stuffing, unsupported claims, or low-value generated content
Qualifications
- Demonstrated SEO, technical SEO, content optimization, or organic-search experience
- Familiarity with Search Console, analytics, crawling tools, schema, CMS platforms, and web performance
- Strong research, writing, prioritization, and diagnostic skills
- Understanding of local SEO, accessibility, privacy, and responsible AI-search practices
- Experience with nonprofits, education, WordPress, or multi-brand websites is helpful
This remote, recurring opportunity is flexible and typically requires up to 10 hours per month. Volunteers may participate from anywhere.
