The Opportunity
This position is your shortcut to a Director-, or even COO-level role. If you’re ambitious and looking for the next step in your career, this job is for you.
You’ll start in the $75-80k/year salary range and scale up your income along with responsibilities. This will be a six-figure position by year 2.
We’re looking for an SEO-savvy operator to help grow Meriwether – a boutique SEO agency. We’ve doubled in size from $20k to $45k MRR in the last 6 months and want you to be a key part of doing it again in the next 12 months.
You’ll start as a strategist to learn our way of doing things, but should be excited to make moves and grow into a management role. In 18 months you should own service delivery across the organization and manage our entire delivery team (you can progress as fast as you’d like).
Who We Are
I’m Josh – founder and CEO of Meriwether. I work with a small team of amazing contractors, and you’ll be the first full time hire.
Given the small team, you and I will be working together a lot. I’ve created a unique system I call Battleground SEO, will teach you everything I know, and hope to learn from you too.
Battleground SEO has lead to some really cool wins, like the one you’ll hear about here where we took a client from 400 customers/month to 2000/month. I’ve also been featured as CXL’s ecommerce SEO instructor.
In general, we’re a team full of straight shooters who love to learn, are collaborative and have a strong internal drive for excellence.
What You’ll Do
Months 1-4: Learn the Meriwether way of SEO through 1:1 coaching with our founder, Josh. Become lead strategist and main POC for 4-8 clients.
Months 4-8: Learn the ins and outs of our content ops and “Lean” — our agency operating system.
Months 8+: Transition to true Head of SEO and become org-wide point of contact for SEO service delivery.
Must-Haves:
- Agency experience
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills
- Top-notch SEO and/or content marketing skills
- Desire to be a manager and leader
- A strong inner drive for excellence
- Ability to make decisions and turn high-level ideas into detailed action plans
- Fluent in North American culture
Nice-to-Haves:
- A couple cool case studies under your belt
- Writing experience (we focus a lot on content quality, so that background is helpful)
- Entrepreneurial/intrapreneurial tendencies
- Shopify and/or ecommerce SEO experience

- This is a full-time, salaried job. No agencies or part-timers, sorry.
- Work from anywhere (US or anywhere). North American work hours.
