Windscribe
Location: Remote or Toronto HQ (must overlap with EST hours)
Windscribe, the biggest VPN company in Canada, is looking for a razor-sharp Content Editor to join our Growth Team. You’ll be the final boss standing between the internet and content that is boring, inaccurate, or worst of all… generic.
This role blends human ingenuity with machine-generated chaos. You’ll primarily be editing AI-assisted content—but not exclusively. You’ll also wrangle technical how-tos, feature explainers, blog posts, landing pages, and the occasional meme-worthy video-script. If you can turn robotic ramblings into clear, compelling, on-brand content (and maybe even teach the robots a thing or two), keep reading.
Key Responsibilities
Content Editing & Review
- Edit AI-generated content for grammar, flow, tone, accuracy, and brand alignment—we don’t do dull.
- Review and polish technical content like VPN set-up guides, feature docs, or deep dives into internet censorship (it’s more fun than it sounds).
- Translate technical jargon into digestible human-speak while preserving accuracy.
- Ensure content meets Windscribe’s editorial voice: irreverent, smart, clear, and privacy-forward.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive brand editorial style guide that governs tone, formatting, terminology, and voice.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive AI-humanizing guide that ensures AI-generated content is undetectable, human-reader friendly, and gets rid of all those pesky m-dashes.
AI Collaboration
- Partner with our AI content prompt engineer to train and refine output quality.
- Develop and enforce editorial guidelines for AI-driven content.
- Evaluate performance of AI content and assist in continuously iterating on process improvements.
SEO & Optimization
In collaboration with our SEO & Content Manager:
- Apply on-page SEO best practices to maximize visibility—think metadata, internal links, and sneaky keyword placement (but make it natural).
- Use tools like Ahrefs, Search Console, and Analytics to identify content gaps, opportunities, and what the algorithm gods want this week.
- Help shape and maintain a scalable, quality-first editorial workflow.
Strategy & Collaboration
- Work with Product, Growth, and the occasional robot to make sure content is technically accurate and strategically aligned.
- Assist with content planning, editorial calendars, and cross-functional projects.
- Stay ahead of AI trends, privacy issues, and VPN industry shifts—yes, there will be reading.
Qualifications & Experience
- Exceptional command of the English language. If you don’t know when to use “which” vs “that,” this isn’t for you.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of professional editing or writing experience—must include tech, VPNs, AI, or cybersecurity.
- Proven ability to edit across content formats: blogs, landing pages, help docs, feature releases, etc.
- Experience working with or editing AI-generated content using tools like ChatGPT, Grok, etc.
- Comfortable editing technical material (you don’t need to be an engineer, but you should know DNS isn’t short for Do Not Send).
- Strong grasp of SEO principles and familiarity with platforms like Ghost, Notion and Directus.
- Bonus: understanding of machine learning, LLMs, or natural language processing.
- Organized, self-motivated, and allergic to mediocrity.
Personal Attributes
- Language Snob (in a good way): You twitch at dangling modifiers and genuinely enjoy fixing comma splices.
- Detail-Obsessed: Typos keep you up at night. Inconsistencies? Even worse.
- Tone Chameleon: You can shift from serious to snarky, formal to funny, and back again without breaking a sweat.
- Tech-Curious: You don’t need to code, but you’re not afraid to Google what a recursive resolver is—and actually read the result.
- Independent Operator: You don’t need hand-holding. You see a problem, fix it. You see an opportunity, pitch it.
- Feedback-Literate: You don’t take edits personally, and you know how to give notes that aren’t passive-aggressive.
- Low BS Tolerance: You thrive in a no-fluff, straight-talking team that values logic over bureaucracy.
- Lifelong Learner: AI moves fast. So do we. If you’re not into learning, this will be… a lot.
Benefits and Perks:
- Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
- Generous paid time off (PTO) and company holidays
- Opportunities for professional development, training, and certification reimbursement
- Remote and hybrid options available, but must overlap with EST hours.
How to Apply
Send your resume, a short cover letter (skip the corporate fluff), and a few samples of your best editing or writing work to [email protected]. If you include a video intro or Loom, we’ll probably like you more.
