Introduction

Hi, I’m Lesley! I’ve had the pleasure of building a robust digital marketing skillset over the last 17 years, concentrating the last 7+ in SEO. From keyword research to technical audits to content strategy and creation, I combine a love of data with creative thinking and writing chops to create and execute winning SEO strategies. I’m well-versed in all aspects of holistic SEO strategy development including:

  • Technical SEO – creating full-scale tech audits identifying key areas to improve and working with developers, engineers, and personally helping to implement those changes to improve site performance
  • On-Page SEO – performing in-depth keyword research and competitor analysis to inform content strategy development and optimization of existing site content, metadata, images, internal links, and more
  • Local SEO – performing local SEO audits and identifying ways to help location-based businesses stand out through Google Business Profile optimization, schema markup/structured data, NAP consistency, and local content strategy
  • Off-Page SEO – backlink profile audits and improvement, YouTube optimization, collaborating with social media and paid search teams
  • SEO Copywriting – this is where I have a particular edge when it comes to SEO. My degree in technical writing and creative background have given me the skills to take in highly technical information, get up to speed quickly, distill what’s important and convey that to audiences in a language they can understand. For organizations who either don’t have in-house writers or prefer to have outside help with writing, I’m able to provide that service. Otherwise, for those who do have content teams, I can provide detailed content briefs, help develop content calendars, and provide SEO copywriting training to staff to empower them with the skills to approach their writing in a more strategic way.

My approach to SEO is one that keeps business goals in mind first and foremost, recognizing that SEO is only part of an overall marketing strategy, and that hitting keyword ranking or traffic benchmarks can be nice, but it really doesn’t mean anything if that isn’t impacting the goals that are important to you, whether that’s an increase in sales, newsletter sign-ups, brand recognition, etc. I bring a strong sense of business acumen and strategy to my work so while you’re getting an SEO strategist, you’re also getting someone who understands SEO in the greater picture of digital marketing and business growth strategy.

I care deeply about the human aspect of business, and approach my work with warmth, openness, and humor in the pursuit of excellence. Thank you for considering me!

Career History

Over the last 17 years, I’ve worked in both small and large marketing agency environments. I began my work in content strategy as far back as 2007, crafting corporate blogging strategies for clients back when ‘social media’ was just barely being used for business. My SEO career began more directly in 2009 as an SEO copywriter for famed search brand WordStream in Boston. Since then, I’ve held positions on both paid and organic sides of search, with my most recent 7 years spent as an SEO account manager, then Senior SEO Manager, and most recently, a Senior SEO Strategist for a large Boston agency, in addition to serving as an SEO content writer and strategy consultant for several freelance projects.

I’ve helped clients get results through SEO across myriad industries, from moving companies to Fortune 500 tech giants, SaaS providers in the telehealth, EdTech and FinTech spaces, to mental health providers, research institutes, travel and tourism companies, cybersecurity software companies, and specialty retail in both food and apparel.

What Are You Looking For in Your Next Role?

I’m ideally looking for an in-house SEO role for my next chapter, though can consider an agency role for a smaller group depending on the fit.  I’m open to remote full-time roles with flexibility on set hours, but also enthusiastically pursuing part-time and contract-based possibilities. I’d love to put my expertise to use for a brand/company that I can get my heart behind and with a team of smart and friendly people who are fun humans to work with!

Anything Else?

I’ve written musicals and landed an audition as a puppeteer for a Jim Henson workshop one time. Not SEO-related, but on the off chance that Sesame Street is hiring an SEO consultant, I am most definitely your gal.
