We are seeking a hands-on, technically skilled SEO Specialist to join our Organic Channel on the Marketing team. You will be responsible for owning and maintaining one or more content-driven websites targeting specific verticals in the education industry. The SEO Specialist will be tasked with growing our organic audience by producing and maintaining websites that rank highly on search engine results pages (SERPS), serves the needs of our audience, and drives business value. The SEO Specialist has a strong understanding of the technical aspects of content creation, a passion for building and executing upon content strategies, and an innate understanding on how to produce content that resonates with an online audience. This is a full-time role and a great opportunity for someone who wants to own the end-to-end production and performance of one or more lead generation websites.

This role is equal parts search engine optimization (SEO), content production, and conversion rate optimization (CRO). Success requires skills in website production, content creation, digital marketing, web analytics, and lead generation. The ideal candidate is as equally capable of editing and creating content as they are with producing it in a content management system (CMS). Comfort working autonomously and dealing with ambiguity are essential as you collaborate with multiple internal teams to position the Organic Channel for sustained growth.

Strong writing and editing skills are a must, so please provide writing samples in the form of a portfolio or links to blog post, articles, web pages or other examples that will demonstrate your writing abilities.

Work allocation will be roughly broken down as follows:

  • 33% Search Engine Optimization
  • 33% Content Production (Writing, Editing, Publishing)
  • 33% Conversion Rate Optimization

Experience & Skills:

  • Manage the day-to-day production and performance of one or more websites in our Organic Channel
  • Improve on-site architecture improvements to benefit SEO
  • Continuously optimize websites to rank highly in SERPs for strategic keyword topics
  • Conduct competitive analysis and develop tactics to outrank competitors
  • Conduct keyword research to ideate new content that extends our reach and engagement within your assigned vertical(s)
  • Identify and fill content gaps
  • Create and manage a content calendar anchored in growing website traffic through topic clustering and SEO best practices
  • Monitor web pages to ensure content is formatted correctly and provides an optimal user experience across all browsers and all devices
  • Author and edit articles and blog posts as needed
  • Team up with the Production team to produce and maintain websites in WordPress and ensure timely publication of content
  • Partner with the Content team to identify subject matter experts to write or contribute to articles and blog post
  • Coordinate with the Managing Editor to ensure that content is aligned with our content strategy and quality standards
  • Measure the success of our content, its growth and impact on demand generation
  • Optimize conversation rate through each stage of the conversion funnel
  • Establish specific KPIs and ensure necessary reporting is in place to measure and report on effectiveness and optimize results
  • Partner with the Product team to design and implement a/b testing
  • Work with the Design team to create excellent user experiences for the website and ensure that it is on brand and
  • Coordinate with the Social Media Manager to amplify high value content to our social media audience

Qualifications:

  • Five years of experience in digital marketing producing web content in a continuous publishing environment
  • Five years of experience in Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)
  • Five years of experience in analyzing and application of SEO best practices
  • Up-to-date knowledge of Google algorithm updates, ranking factors, and core web vitals
  • Experience producing websites that are designed to acquire customers and generate leads
  • Keen understanding of how web audiences respond and engage with content
  • Understanding of how content architecture informs website navigation
  • Understanding of how internal and external links impacts SEO
  • Ability to prioritize a backlog of projects that deliver the maximum ROI
  • Ability to document project requirements and manage timelines
  • Experience using keyword research tools (SEMrush, Ahrefs, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, Schema Markup, and Metadata
  • Experience with Google Search Console and Google Analytics
  • Analytical mindset and ability to measure, manage, analyze, and report on KPI’s

Not required, but nice to have:

  • WordPress production experience
  • Ecommerce experience is very desirable
  • Knowledge of SEO plugins and platforms
  • In-depth knowledge or working experience of one of following industries: Healthcare, Nursing, Psychology, Education, Criminal Justice, & Business
  • Experience working in an Agile working environment
  • Experience with Jira or other project management software
