About the Role
As an SEO Outreach Specialist at Marketeering Group, you can expect to have significant input in SEO strategy on behalf of our clients, flexibility in your work measured against SEO goals, and the ability to experiment with emerging SEO tactics on hundreds of websites.
We’ve built our brand around SEO, so you’ll join a talented and creative team where every member is expected to have some SEO knowledge. Our clients range from small businesses where we work directly with the business owner on a tight budget, all the way up to international brands with significant monthly SEO retainers.
This role is responsible for link building, outreach, citation development and maintenance, and authentic participation in relevant online communities, including Reddit. The right candidate understands that effective outreach is not mass emailing or spam. It is research-driven, brand-aware, relationship-based, and aligned with each client’s goals, audience, and industry.

What You’ll Do
🚀 Primary Responsibilities
- Work closely with SEO strategists, account managers, and content teams to align outreach efforts with campaign goals
- Support reporting on link acquisition, outreach performance, citation status, and community engagement activity
- Recommend process improvements, tools, and workflow enhancements that improve off-page SEO execution
- Help turn outreach and community findings into actionable recommendations for clients
🤝 Outreach and Relationship Building
- Research and identify relevant websites, blogs, publications, directories, forums, and online communities for outreach opportunities
- Build and manage prospect lists for backlink, mention, partnership, guest content, and resource placement opportunities
- Write personalized outreach emails and messages for link acquisition and brand visibility efforts
- Develop outreach opportunities tied to client content, thought leadership, brand mentions, partnerships, and digital PR efforts
- Track outreach activity, follow-ups, responses, wins, and losses in internal systems
🔗 Link Building
- Execute white-hat link-building strategies focused on relevance, authority, and long-term SEO value
- Identify and pursue opportunities such as guest posts, resource links, broken link replacement, unlinked brand mentions, and partnership placements
- Evaluate backlink opportunities based on quality, topical relevance, domain strength, and risk
- Monitor acquired links and ensure proper placement, attribution, and retention
- Assist with backlink audits and competitive off-page research
- Manage vendor relationships and process orders where necessary.
📍Citations and Local SEO Support
- Build, update, and maintain local business listings and citations across relevant platforms and directories
- Audit citation profiles for inconsistencies, duplicate listings, missing listings, and inaccurate business information
- Ensure NAP consistency across all citation sources
- Support local SEO initiatives for clients with geographic targeting needs
- Maintain organized records of citation work completed by client
💬 Reddit and Community Engagement
- Research relevant subreddits and online communities where client industries and target audiences are actively participating
- Monitor conversations for trends, questions, pain points, and content opportunities
- Participate in communities in a way that is helpful, authentic, and compliant with platform rules
- Identify opportunities to add value through thoughtful responses, discussion participation, and relevant resource sharing where appropriate
- Surface insights from community discussions that can inform content strategy, FAQ development, and SEO recommendations
What We’re Looking For
✔️ Your Background
- 3+ years of experience in SEO, digital outreach, link building, content promotion, community management, or a related marketing role
- Proven track record of implementing successful SEO outreach strategies for clients across a wide range of industries.
- Digital agency experience preferred but not required.
✔️ Your Skillset
- Strong understanding of SEO fundamentals, especially off-page SEO and local SEO
- Experience with backlink research, outreach, and citation management
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to write personalized, professional outreach messages
- Strong research skills and attention to detail
- Ability to assess opportunity quality and use sound judgment instead of chasing low-value volume
- Familiarity with Reddit culture, subreddit rules, and best practices for authentic participation
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple clients, campaigns, and deadlines
- Experience with tools such as Ahrefs, SEMrush, BrightLocal, Whitespark, BuzzStream, Pitchbox, or similar platforms
- Familiarity with local SEO best practices and citation cleanup workflows
- Ability to identify content-led link opportunities and digital PR angles
- Ability to translate community insights into useful content ideas and SEO recommendations
How You’ll Know You’re Successful
💼 Reporting directly to the Managing Director, your performance will be measured based on:
- Number and quality of relevant backlinks acquired
- Outreach response rate and placement rate
- Citation accuracy, completeness, and consistency
- Growth in referring domains and off-page authority
- Contribution to local SEO performance improvements
- Quality and consistency of Reddit and community engagement
- Actionable insights surfaced to support content and SEO strategy
