# **SEO Lead (AI Search & Digital PR) Remote**

**Company:** Divergent Digital

**Location:** Remote

**Employment Type:** Full-Time

## **About the Role**

Search is no longer ten blue links. Our clients need to be found in traditional results, in AI Overviews, and inside ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini — including answers that never produce a click. We’re hiring one person to own that surface for a growing agency.

This role combines technical and on-page SEO, entity and citation strategy, and earned media, because those disciplines feed each other. A brand with a clean digital footprint, real expertise on its site, and mentions on sources the models already trust is better positioned to rank and to get named in an answer. We want someone who sees how those connect and can execute across all of it.

Most of our clients are in behavioral health and healthcare. The competition is heavy, the compliance rules are real, and the person on the other end of the search is usually a parent or a spouse at the worst point of their year. We take that seriously.

## **What You’ll Own**

- **Technical SEO** across a portfolio of client sites: crawl and indexation, site architecture, Core Web Vitals, structured data, migrations, and the audits that catch problems before a client feels them.
- **On-page and content SEO:** keyword and intent mapping, topical coverage, internal linking, titles and meta descriptions, schema, and briefs that give writers clear direction.
- **AEO/GEO practice:** which you’ll build out. Track how clients appear across AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini, investigate why they do or don’t, and test the changes that move it.
- **AI-assisted work standards:** We use AI heavily, but we don’t publish AI-voiced copy, unverified claims, or invented statistics. You’ll help set where that line sits and keep our work on the right side of it.
- **A prioritized roadmap** you can defend on impact and sequencing.
- **Reporting** that ties the work to outcomes: rankings, qualified organic traffic, AI citation presence, calls, and form fills.

## **What We’re Looking For**

- At least three years of hands-on SEO, with results you can walk us through, including the tests that didn’t work and what you took from them.
- Real technical depth: site architecture, schema and structured data, crawl and indexation, page speed, migrations. You can talk to a developer without a translator.
- Strong on-page fundamentals: keyword research, search intent, topical authority, internal linking.
- A practical point of view on AEO/GEO. It’s a young and noisy field, so we don’t expect a long track record. We do expect you to have run your own tests and formed opinions you can defend.
- Strong writing skills: press releases, pitches, and expert commentary an editor would actually run, often in someone else’s voice and on a deadline.
- Fluency with Google Search Console, GA4, Ahrefs or Semrush, Screaming Frog, and whichever AI-visibility tools you’ve found genuinely useful.
- Experience in a regulated or highly competitive field is a plus: behavioral health, healthcare, legal, finance. If you’ve worked through a LegitScript review or written copy under compliance constraints, tell us.
- Agency experience is welcome but not required. In-house and operator-side experience count just as much.

## **What This Is Actually Like**

We’re a small team and this is a hands-on lead role. You’ll set direction, and you’ll also run the audits, write the briefs, and publish the work. You’ll report directly to a partner, so the distance between a good recommendation and it becoming real is short.

We’re building our AI-search practice now. Whoever takes this seat has real influence over how it works, what we test, and what becomes the playbook.
