The Lead SEO at Rival Digital is a strategic leader responsible for guiding our SEO team, driving organic growth for our home services clients, and evolving our SEO program. This role involves mentoring the team, implementing effective SEO strategies, and integrating SEO best practices across all operations.

The Lead SEO will refine our SEO framework, processes, and software stack, ensuring we deliver efficient and effective services. They will stay updated with industry trends and technological advancements, identifying opportunities for process optimization and new tool integrations.

The role also involves creating a scalable SEO framework customized for each client while maintaining quality and consistency. The Lead SEO will develop transparent processes, guidelines, and performance indicators to measure our SEO efforts’ success.

The Lead SEO will manage vendor relationships, selecting SEO tools and platforms that align with our needs and budget, and ensuring the team is trained on each tool.

This role requires a strategic thinker with strong SEO knowledge, process improvement skills, a customer service mentality, and project management abilities. The Lead SEO will be key in shaping our SEO program’s future, ensuring Rival Digital remains a leader in SEO services for home services companies.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the President & Operations Manager to communicate Rival Digital’s SEO strategy, roadmaps, and KPIs to internal stakeholders.
  • Execute SEO strategy directly and through delegation to SEO specialists and vendors.
  • Work with the Operations Manager to create and maintain operational processes for the SEO team.
  • Collaborate and define SEO requirements for the content and web development team.
  • Manage SEO projects and facilitate the flow of information between the SEO team, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Lead and mentor a team of SEO specialists, ensuring high-quality work and timely completion of tasks and deliverables.
  • Actively work with SEO specialists to develop their SEO skills and other hard and soft skills.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and technological advancements.
  • Manage their own client load, developing and implementing effective, data-driven SEO strategies that align with client business goals.
  • Refine and expand our SEO framework, processes, and software stack to create a scalable and customized SEO service for each client, ensuring we deliver efficient, effective, and consistent quality services.
  • Manage vendor relationships, selecting SEO tools and platforms that align with our needs and budget, and ensuring the team is trained on each tool.
  • Collaborate with other Lead SEOs to align systems, tools, and workflows to ensure consistency across the organization.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of standardized SEO processes, documentation, and best practices.
  • Support cross-training initiatives to increase team versatility and knowledge sharing across verticals.
  • Help identify and develop emerging leaders within the SEO team.
  • Promote accountability, ownership, and performance consistency within the pod.
  • Ensure alignment between SEO execution and broader company goals and initiatives.

Requirements and skills

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in organic SEO
  • Strong understanding of technical SEO aspects like site architecture, URL structure, crawling, indexing, canonicalization, and page speed optimization
  • On-page SEO knowledge: skilled in optimizing meta tags, header tags, content, internal linking, keyword research, and content optimization
  • Experience in building and managing link-building campaigns
  • Local SEO: experience in optimizing websites for local
  • Experience using Google Analytics and Search Console to track website performance, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
  • An understanding of content marketing and its role in SEO
  • Experience in optimizing websites for mobile devices and understanding mobile-first indexing
  • Industry certifications: certifications like Google Analytics Individual Qualification (GAIQ), etc.
  • Proven track record of delivering results in terms of increased rankings, traffic, and conversions
  • Experience adapting to algorithm updates and changes in industry best practices
  • Communicate ideas effectively to clients and team members and be able to work collaboratively with other departments like content, web development, and social media
